Classification of BTP in the food has been arranged through the Permenkes RI No.722/Menkes/Per/IX/1998. Crackers is one type of food additives (BTP), suspected dye is added into the crackers usek is a synthetic dye that is not permitted (non food grade). And synthetic dyes are often added into the food there is Rhodamine B, which is commonly used as a textile dye.
The purpose of this study was to determine the content of Rhodamine B is there on crackers usek produced in the Urban Districts South Karangasem, Batang Sub District, Batang District. This type of research is a descriptive study with verification approaches. Qualititative and quantitative data from laboratory test results were analyzed descriptively. The results of the 10 samples tested there were 8 samples were positive for Rhodamine B is A, B, C, D, E, F, H, and I. Found spots on TLC plates appeared pink sharpened whit ligth UV 254 nm and UV 366 nm, value Retardation factor equal or close to value Retardation factor Rhodamine B standart. In 2 other samples is G and J did not show fluorescence and shows no propagation at a distance of components or samples, so value Retardation factor is 0.
When food containing Rhodamine B is continuously consumed it will when foods cause health problems in the short term and long term depending from the size of the exposure or the amount accumulated in the body. This is can lead to liver cancer and damage the kidneys fan, due to the people in the use of synthetic dyes. There are intructions on the packaging of the use, the marketing outhorization of the relevant agencies such as listed marketing outhorization of Depkes, Dinkes, BPOM and there is a MUI label on the packaging. For consumers not too often consume crackers usek that particular red. It is known that, dye containing synthetic dyes are used that are not allowed for added into the food.
