ABSTRACT
Diabetes Mellitus is metabolic disease which is signed by the increasing of blood glucose levels (hiperglikemia), it is caused by defects of insulin secretion or insulin. (Groop, 2001 in Merentek, 2006). This condition will increase blood glucose levels so it damages body system. A disease with high prevalence can’t be treated completely, but it can be prevented or controlled so it will not be chronicle. The main purpose of this research is to know the level of Diabetes Mellitus diet knowledge in Puskesmas Wonokerto Wiradesa in regency of Pekalongan. The specific purpose of this research involves how far the understanding society about the implementer of Diabetes Mellitus diet and the complication of this disease. In this research, the researcher uses descriptive survey research with cross sectional design. 75 respondent whose become sample in this research are the patient of Puskesmas Wonokerto Wiradesa and it is choosed by random sampling methods. The result of this research shows that 60 people (80%) have a low level of Diabetes Mellitus diet knowledge and 15 people (20%) have a good knowledge about the diet of Diabetes Mellitus type 2. While the result of the Diabetes Mellitus diet implementer is 41 patient (54.67%) are categorized as less, 24 patient (32%) are categorized as medium and 10 patient (13.33%) are categorized as good. The conclusion of this research is there is a specific relation between patient's knowledge level and the implementer of Diabetes Mellitus diet type 2.
