Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease with the symptoms lasting progressive hiperglikemi caused by impaired insulin secretion, insulin work disorders, or both. Heredity plays a role in the genesis of these diseases, supported by other risk factors such as obesity, lack of exercise, eating too much, often experience stress and can also be triggered by long-term consumption of drugs-drugs that can raise blood glucose levels. Incidence of Diabetes Mellitus in Pekajangan Village in 2012 remains high, with the number of sufferers of 144 people. Other facts mentioned that community Neighborhoods Pekajangan until now doing marriage that is still within the scope of one of the family. This research aims to know the relationship between marital status family close to the incidence of diabetes mellitus.
Design research is the research observation with design of case study control. Slovin formula using sampling, the sampling technique with a Purposive sampling method was obtained as many as 118 total sample with the Division of the sample in each of the cases and controls as much as 59 samples. Analysis of using univariate analysis and bivariat use chi square correlation strength with size using the value of Æ (phi).
The results showed that there is a connection between marital status family close to the incidence of Diabetes Mellitus with the strength of the correlation is very strong (p = 0,000; phi = 0,983).This means almost all close family marriages can cause disease Diabetes Mellitus because the value of phi reached 1.
