PENGARUH BAHAN STEK DAN KONSENTRASI IBA (Indole Butyric Acid) TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN NILAM (Pogostemon cablin Benth)

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin Benth) is an essential oil producing plants that have economic value that profitable for farmers. Needs of patchouli essential oil continues to rise and become a mainstay of Indonesia who have contributed to the country's foreign exchange. This research aims to determine the material cuttings and that the optimum concentration of IBA and its interaction with the growth of patchouli. The experiments were conducted in the village of Kebun Rowo Pucang Karangdadap Pekalongan district, with alluvial soil types from May to August 2012. The experimental design used is a Randomized Completely Block Design. The first factor cuttings material consists of 3 levels i.e. material cutting the base, middle, and shoots. The second factor is the concentration of IBA consists of 4 levels i.e. 0 ppm, 10 ppm, 20 ppm, and 30 ppm. each repeated 3 times so that there are the whole 36 experimental units. The results showed that the cuttings material very significant effect on all observed variables. The bud cuttings material gives the best results. IBA concentration was highly significant to the variable number of roots, root dry weight, shoot of length per plant, shoot fresh of weight, shoot dry of weight, number of leaves per plant and significant effect on root fresh of weight variable, with the patern effect is quadratic, whereas the current variable when bud comes, number of shoots per plant, and the percentage of cuttings life do not significant effect. The optimum of concentration is achieved at a concentration of 20 ppm. The interaction between the material cuttings with IBA concentration was highly significant for all the observed variables. The best combination of materials the bud cuttings with IBA concentration of 20 ppm (B3K2).
